A Gaze That Fades
Sold
In “A Gaze That Fades,” beauty reveals itself through its fleeting nature. Light glides across the face, breaking into cool blue and delicate pink reflections. The gaze remains clear, yet the surrounding forms seem to dissolve — like an image in a mirror that cannot be held once we step away.
The painting resonates with the Japanese appreciation of impermanence: knowing that a moment will pass makes it all the more precious. Visible brushstrokes bring the face into being through individual touches of colour and light, preserving a fragile balance between presence and disappearance. What unfolds is a quiet encounter with a gaze that will soon exist only in memory.
